Modern, Geometric Shoot at The Tasting Room

Today, we have a fun and flirty inspiration shoot for you all!  This oldie but a goodie is a Culinary Crafts favorite and the team at Scenemakers did an AMAZING job of designing this shoot that was fun, but still sophisticated too!  Couple that with photography by Jessica Peterson Photography and the venue, which was Culinary Crafts's Tasting Room in downtown Salt Lake City, and you have a recipe for GORGEOUS! Check it out! Scenemakers-Geometric-Heart-Styled-Shoot-Jessica-Peterson-Photography-24 Love the geometric hearts!  And the glitter!!!  So fun! Scenemakers-Geometric-Heart-Styled-Shoot-Jessica-Peterson-Photography-2 How pretty is this tablescape?  I love the modern feel and how it blends with the brick walls of the Tasting Room!  Just the best setting for this afternoon luncheon. Scenemakers-Geometric-Heart-Styled-Shoot-Jessica-Peterson-Photography-17 These menus and escort cards were PERFECT!  Saucy & Kitsch is simply the best!  Plus, aren't the card holder's AWESOME?! Scenemakers-Geometric-Heart-Styled-Shoot-Jessica-Peterson-Photography-35  More glitter!  I just can't resist a sequined table runner.  JUST. CAN'T. Scenemakers-Geometric-Heart-Styled-Shoot-Jessica-Peterson-Photography-9 Love, love, love the florals that Scenemakers did!  And our first course, was awesome too - if you ask me, anyway! :) We served a Spring Sweet Pea and Pesto Risotto topped with Tiny Asparagus Spears, a Fried Quail Egg, and Shaved Parmesan with Black Pepper Brioche.  Uh, yum! Scenemakers-Geometric-Heart-Styled-Shoot-Jessica-Peterson-Photography-32 Scenemakers-Geometric-Heart-Styled-Shoot-Jessica-Peterson-Photography-23  Another fabulous snippet of these STUNNING florals.  Just beautiful!   Scenemakers-Geometric-Heart-Styled-Shoot-Jessica-Peterson-Photography-21 We also served a signature beverage (of course!)  This Thyme Raspberry Cream Soda garnished with Raspberries and a Sprig of Thyme was the perfect playful drink for this shoot!  And the golden striped paper straws with the bride & groom's names on the decorative flag was a stroke of genius!  It's all about the details! Scenemakers-Geometric-Heart-Styled-Shoot-Jessica-Peterson-Photography-11 And of course we had a GORGEOUS dessert to round out this pretty day!  Our Mini Pear-Vanilla Bundt Cakes topped with Meyer Lemon Whipped Curd with a slice of Preserved Pear and Candied Lemon Zest was also coupled with petite cups of coffee, perfect for this early afternoon luncheon! Scenemakers-Geometric-Heart-Styled-Shoot-Jessica-Peterson-Photography-33 Scenemakers-Geometric-Heart-Styled-Shoot-Jessica-Peterson-Photography-14 We here at Culinary Crafts LOVED this shoot - such a lovely stylized shoot with a team of fabulous professionals!  We also really love the trend of brunches and afternoon lunches for all of the light options and menu creativity that we get to explore.  Such a great day!  Happy inspiration, everyone! A Modern, Chic Wedding at NHMU!

Today I have a STUNNING event to share with you all!  Not only was this AMAZING wedding just a beautiful event that we had the honor of seeing published in Utah Bride and Groom Magazine, but it was the first (and to date, the only) same-sex wedding to be published in a Utah bridal magazine!  So amazing - and we think you'll see why we love this event so much too - check it out! NashJuddWedding Isn't this a great bridal party photo?  David Newkirk perfectly captured the high-style feel of this day! NashJuddWedding2 The grooms-to-be selected the incredibly chic venue of the Natural History Museum of Utah to host their wedding celebration - and it was a great fit!  The natural beauty of the architectural materials and the modern design makes this space such a jaw-dropping venue.  We also love that they chose the date of their 10-year anniversary to seal their commitment to each other forever.  Love it! NashJuddWedding3 We also loved the modern monogram that the grooms used through the event to "brand" the day.  Such a fabulous idea and great way to tie together your details! NashJuddWedding4 The design, by our friends at FUSE Weddings & Events, hit this one out of the park.  Mixed metallics and the primary pop of copper was GORGEOUS - love that detail especially since NHMU is accented with copper from the Rio Tinto mine.  So, of course, the venue blended in with this palette just beautifully. NashJuddWedding5 How pretty is this tablescape?  Love those geometric centerpieces by Orchid Dynasty! NashJuddWedding6 Another high style touch?  The avant-garde "Champagne Bride" who "passed" champagne to the guests.  This TOTALLY set the mood for a chic, stylish event! NashJuddWedding9 How pretty is this sweetheart table?  Love the ghost chairs and copper wrapped florals! NashJuddWedding7 We worked closely with the grooms and FUSE to create a menu that was over-the-top, but also showcased the couple's individual personalities.  For example?  The His & His hors d'oeuvres included Tomato Soup with Mini Grilled Cheese Bites (the couple's favorite meal) and a take on nachos 2 ways - including a play on 7-11's nachos!  So fun! NashJuddWedding10 The guests took a seat for dinner and enjoyed breathtaking views of Salt Lake City while they were served.  A stunning view, if you ask me! NashJuddWedding8 We also served Fresh Strawberries with Cream and the first course in their plated dinner was a delicious Goat Cheese and Beet Terrine.  SO YUMMY! NashJuddWedding11 The Main Course was a "Great Duo" entree of Lobster & Beef.  Decadent AND pretty! NashJuddWedding12 Lastly, the guests were given a palette cleanser of our house-made Raspberry Sorbet to finish out the meal before they had wedding cake for dessert. NashJuddWedding13 We simply LOVED this wedding!  It was full of so much joy and we had SO much fun planning the menu!  Thank you to Utah Bride & Groom for publishing it - because Culinary Crafts believes LOVE is LOVE and it's all equal!  Happy dreaming, everyone! Repost from Salt Lake/Park City Bride & Groom – Heart of Gold: Geometrics & Glitter Styled Wedding Shoot

REPOST FROM SALT LAKE/PARK CITY BRIDE & GROOM'S BLOG: "Geometrics and heart motifs are popping up all over the design and fashion worlds, and we couldn’t be happier. What’s not to love about playful patterns and sweet symbols of love? The team at Scenemakers drew inspiration from the fun, youthful spirit of geometrics and hearts to design this vibrant styled shoot featuring bold pops of color, gold, and glitter. The theme is perfect for sunny summer weddings, but would also work well for nuptials near Valentine’s Day. Below, check out images by Jessica Peterson Photography from the styled shoot, which took place at the hip and versatile Tasting Room in downtown Salt Lake City. Read on for more details about the geometric + heart theme, plus a list of local vendors. The shoot’s palette is bold and gold details are incorporated throughout. The theme was well matched with invitation artist Lauren Brady of Saucy & Kitsch for The Write Image. When I described the theme to her (and my new obsession with geometric hearts), she produced the most special and custom invitation suite for us—complete with a big geometric heart on the main invite. I died of joy when I saw this one!  Our stunning model, Michelle, wore an Alta Moda gem: a Hayley Paige ball gown. The dress was unbelievable, with a full skirt in layers of subtly striped, structured material. Soula Christopulos nailed the hair and makeup, creating a look that struck a balance between being fun and wedding appropriate. Culinary Crafts outdid themselves with a totally unique and intriguing menu—one that everyone eagerly indulged in after the shoot!' The menu created by Culinary Crafts included the following tasty items: 1st Course Spring sweet pea and pesto risotto topped with tiny asparagus spears, a fried quail egg, and shaved Parmesan; black pepper brioche Dessert Mini pear-vanilla bundt cakes topped with Meyer lemon whipped curd with a slice of whole dehydrated pear and candied lemon zest Drinks Thyme raspberry cream soda with floating raspberries and a sprig of thyme; petite cups of coffee Thank you for sharing this styled shoot with us, Scenemakers and all the talented local vendors involved!" Thank you so much to SLPC Bride & Groom for this feature!  We here at Culinary Crafts LOVED this shoot (and there are other, just as amazing, shoots to come too!)  Such a lovely stylized shoot with a team of fabulous professionals!  Happy inspiration, everyone! A Foodie Fantasy Menu!

FoodieFantasy Recently, Culinary Crafts's Mary Crafts-Homer was lucky to be asked by Salt Lake/Park City Bride & Groom Magazine to give a menu that would be perfect for the ever evolving 'foodie' couple.  Well, of course she was excited to get started on this right away!  What resulted was a chic, complex menu of traditional favorites, with surprising twists!  Take the Bruschetta course, for example.  Instead of doing the traditional basil and tomato offering, Mary elected to come up with a trio of bruschettas - Calamata Tapenade with Sweet Onion Agrodolce; Heirloom Tomato and Mozzarella Duxelle; and a Gorgonzola with Garlic-Seared Kale, Sultans, and Pine Nuts.  YUM!  Not only did Mary supply this delightfully layered menu, but she gave other tips as well!  For a true foodie experience, she suggests serving pre- and post-ceremony sips and bites to keep your guests palettes happy!  One of my favorite suggestions?  A canapé station serving Lamb Carpaccio with Shiso and Ginger Scallion Sauce and Roasted Corn Griddle Cakes with Smoked Utah Trout, Caviar, and Creme Fraiché.  Mmm...  Such a fun feature and we are so thankful to SLPC Bride & Groom for asking us to create this dream menu!  If you haven't already, make sure to pick up a copy of the magazine to see all of Mary's suggestions!  Happy reading, everyone! Inspired By “Mindful Eating”: The Miraval Spa Cookbook

MiravalPost3 Today, we have a guest post from our wedding planner extraordinaire, Holly Fowler, who wrote a little bit about the inspiration we received when working with a recent bride and the cookbook she gifted us.  Take it away, Holly! "We had the great pleasure of creating the wedding day for an employee of the Miraval Resort and Spa which sits at the foot of the sprawling Santa Catalina Mountains in Tucson, Arizona.  The bride, Kelley, was a treat to work with and graciously gave us creative control to design the food around the 5 different states that she and her husband-to-be, Tyler, have lived in during their courtship: Utah, Oregon, Washington, Arizona and Colorado. MiravalPost   Kelley was so gracious to share with us the cookbook from the spa “Mindful Eating” which we used for inspiration on some of our menus recently - and we LOVE the mission statement of Miraval!   'Since its beginning in 1996, Miraval has upheld a powerfully simple vision: life is more meaningful and enjoyable when one’s physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and intellectual components are in balance.'  We couldn't agree more!  Plus, this attention to detail and the overall well-being of people made for some excellent recipes. MiravalPost2 We love the Pumpkin Cornmeal Bread, Cilantro-Crusted Scallop with Cumin-Scented Black-Bean Cakes, Corn Salsa and Smoked Red Pepper Coulis and the Caramelized Three-Onion Polenta Lasagna with Wilted Baby Arugula, Goat Cheese, and Ratatouille Sauce.  Actually, we loved so many recipes in 'Mindful Eating' that we used its inspiration to create the menu for our recent UBB inspiration shoot (which you can see here.)" Thanks for sharing, Holly!  And we can't wait to show you more dishes inspired by this FABULOUS cookbook!  Happy eating everyone!
