       An experienced wedding planner knows how to work with your budget in the right perspectives. She can see the big picture, and focus on prioritizing the details.  She will make sure all of your vendors and selections are in line within your dreams and your means. Be honest about your budget and your priorities- with your planner-and yourself. It will help in every way.
  • Vendor Referrals and Contract Negotiation
       A great wedding planner is extremely skilled at personality matching and will assist in proper vendor selection for you and your expectations. You can really see your wedding planner’s experience by their vendor relationships. This helps save everyone time, and creates a dream team for your perfect day.        Because of your planner’s great working relationships, she will be the best resource to negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and very importantly-your venue. Roaring 20s Event | Wednesday Wisdom


Happy Leap Day everyone!  Today, I have a one-of-a-kind event that is perfect for this very unique day - a Roaring 20s themed event chock full of style, panache, and, of course, delicious food!  We at Culinary Crafts couldn't wait to showcase this event!  The McCune Mansion set the scene perfectly and the Culinary Crafts servers dressed to the nines with bow ties, spats, and arm bands (plus, slicked back hairstyles and mustaches were encouraged!)  Our flapper girls mingled with the crowd serving our Speakeasy's home brew in mason jars while the jazz band took us back to yesteryear.  Not to mention, we parked Something Vintage Something Blue's Dazee to welcome guests in a timeless fashion!  Culinary Crafts doesn't get to do themed events like this very often - so we definitely took the chance to go all out!  Take a look! How amazing is this event!? Guests were invited inside to peruse the dinner stations in true 1920s fashion.  The Chicago Pasta Bar, New York Ice Bars, Beef Bourgignon and Waldorf Salad stations were a hit and, of course, everything that could be was served in a martini glass! The Culinary Crafts signature prohibition themed finger dessert display was also true to the theme with each of the desserts spiked with just a bit of liquor.  Love it!  Top it off with an authentic Speakeasy (complete with a required password to enter) that hosted a casino and bar and if that wasn't quite what you were looking for, the Cordial and Cigar bar on the second floor was a fantastic alternative.  What an unforgettable evening!  And wouldn't this make a perfect one-of-a-kind wedding or rehearsal dinner?  Happy planning everyone!!! DIY Backdrops | Wednesday Wisdom


Today, I am thrilled that our newest addition, Holly Fowler, wanted to share some of her favorite ideas for a fun and creative DIY backdrop/accent wall!  Take it away, Holly! "One of Culinary Crafts's favorite things we've seen is when an event uses a fun or creative backdrop to set off a space at an event location.  Whether its a pinwheel wall behind the bride and groom during the ceremony, a wall of lights and fabric behind the bridal party table, or even a fabric ribbon garland to amp up the dessert table, each makes a very definite focal point at the event and guests will be drawn to the important areas in the room!  Not to mention, each of these elevate your overall design in infinite ways.  Even better, each of these ideas are simple and could easily be created by you as a DIY!  For example, the fabric ribbon garland is super easy to create.  All you need is varying fabrics in the color and patterns you like, then you cut or tear the fabric (depending on the feel you want) in differing lengths.  As soon as you feel like you have a good amount to create your 'wall', randomly attach the fabric lengths to a string or wire the width of the table you are dressing.  Remember to mix colors, patterns, and lengths to create a evenly weighted look.  Use all of the fabric and add as needed to fill in the spaces.  Remember, you can use more or less fabric, again, it is all about the look you are going for.  Hang the string or wire from the ceiling and voila!  You have a DIY fabric garland wall that takes your table from ordinary to extraordinary!" Inspiration Boards | Wednesday Wisdom


Starting at top left and moving clockwise: Poptone Naturals board via Culinary Crafts, Lilac Love inspiration board via Green Wedding Shoes, and Color Me Happy board from 100 Layer Cake Today, I'd like to share one of the most important tools that any bride can have while planning her wedding: an inspiration board!  Inspiration boards allow you to create a color palette, choose a style, and put it all together so you get a sense of what your perfect day will look like (and if its what you have been dreaming of).  Then, you will have a way to show your wedding planner, florist, or caterer what you are wanting!  Having photographs and a visual board will help everyone get on board with your vision!  How awesome is that?  Plus, in today's modern world, the tools available to create inspiration boards have never been easier to find and use.  From Style Me Pretty's free account that lets you create boards from the thousands of images in their database to Pinterest that allows you to pin everything you've ever looked at on the web and piece your perfect board together - it seriously is AMAZINGLY easy (not to mention FUN) to put together all sorts of possibilities!  We at Culinary Crafts LOVE when a bride comes in with an inspiration board, because we definitely get a sense of her taste, style, and what she's hoping for at her wedding and then we can hit the ground running with ideas to help create her dream day.  So, if you are a bride, definitely check out Style Me Pretty or Pinterest (or make your own!) and have fun!!!  Happy planning! Dramatic UMFA Wedding | Wednesday Wisdom


Today I'd like to share with you one of our favorite weddings of 2011!!!  Held at the UMFA, we were bowled over by this bride's dramatic and GORGEOUS ceremony.  Classic black and white with bold punches of red gave this event an air of sophistication, drama, and elegance.  And, of course, Culinary Crafts made sure to keep that feeling alive with DELICIOUS food!!!  From butler-passed hors d'oeuvres to a four course plated dinner service, each guest was sure to be dazzled!  Take a look! I love, love, LOVE this wedding!  The UMFA was the perfect backdrop and the reception design (courtesy of LMG Events) was immaculate!  It was gorgeous and we congratulate the stunning couple and wish them many years of happiness and love!  Happy planning! Scenemakers : Vendor Love | Wednesday Wisdom


At Culinary Crafts, we have catered hundreds of events and one of the most important things that we have found to make an event flawless is hiring the top notch vendors.  One of those vendors is definitely Scenemakers!  We work with them all the time and they continually astound and AMAZE us!  We love them so much, they even did ALL of the florals for Mary's wedding reception (which is featured in the new Utah Bride and Groom Magazine)!  Their talent doesn't stop there.  From site design, event design, planning, set up, florals, and concept, they do it all.  And they do it FLAWLESSLY.  We'd like to showcase the florals they've provided on two of our favorite events ever, Lauren Magelby's vintage romantic wedding, and Mary Crafts-Homers fantastic wedding reception (natch)! Scenemakers has always been one of our favorites, but recently, working with them has gotten EVEN better!  Freddie Kessler (who actually worked with Scenemakers previously) is back!  She is AMAZING and year after year, Mary and Freddie carefully craft the most divine and most gorgeous of Utah weddings.  They easily create THE weddings of the year - every year.  We hope you check out what Scenemakers could do for you.  You won't be disappointed!  Happy planning!

New Year’s Eve Look Book | Wednesday Wisdom


New Year's Eve is fast approaching and it's always a fantastic excuse to get dressed to the nines, wear some serious sparkle, and have an AMAZING party!  This year, I'm loving a gold and champagne themed event, which the hostess outfit to match!  Take a look! Give The Gift of Goodwill | Wednesday Wisdom


At the holidays, for many, there is a feeling of love, hope, and compassion for mankind.  It's a time of giving gifts and love in the spirit of the season.  There are some, however, who struggle to stay warm, provide meals, or give their families gifts at Christmas.  For them, the holidays are not always the happiest of times.  I believe that one of the greatest things you can do for the holidays is donating your time, used clothing, monetary gifts, or Christmas gifts to those in need.  We are so fortunate for all that we have and helping people out just reinforces that gratitude!  Plus, in Utah, there are some pretty fantastic organizations that make it super easy to help!  One is the United Way of Utah County's Sub for Santa! Sub for Santa provides gifts for children between 18 months and 14 years of age in Utah County.  You can make a financial donation or sponsor a family.  It's a great way to provide someone with a fantastic Christmas who may have otherwise went without.  Last year, Sub for Santa provided nearly 2,000 families and more than 5,400 children with assistance.  How cool is that?!  Such an AMAZING organization and definitely one close to Culinary Crafts's heart!  In fact, Culinary Crafts participates in Sub for Santa EVERY year!  This year, they sponsored a big family with a lot of need and they'll be delivering their Christmas surprise tonight!!!  So EXCITING!   Another great organization is The Road Home.  Located in Salt Lake City, they provide assistance and programs to help the homeless get back on their feet and back into the workforce.  As they say, "It's not a hand out, it's a hand up!"  One of the really awesome programs they have during the holidays is the Candy Cane Corner.  They take donations of new, unwrapped toys (up until Friday, December 23) and put them in the Candy Cane Corner.  Then, the families at the Road Home get to "shop" for presents for their families and can take their selections and wrap them to provide a Christmas surprise for their loved ones.  Such an AMAZING program! They are also doing the Holiday Radio-a-Thon right now, which is a giant drive for in-kind donations, monetary donations, or you can volunteer your time to help with the drive.  Many corporations are doing really awesome monetary matching programs too if various radio stations meet donation amounts - which makes your donations go so much farther! During this season, there are so many opportunities to help our communities and give the gift of goodwill towards our fellow man.  There is so much need, and we must remember, its not just at Christmas.  May this inspire more people to go out and help in any way they can all throughout the upcoming year!  Happy Holidays!

New Venue Bella Vista | Wednesday Wisdom


We are always looking for new and beautiful venues for our clients and let me tell you, The Bella Vista is a gorgeous gem in Lindon!  We were so fortunate to be asked to cater a Women In Philanthropy event - the "In Her Shoes Gala".  Even luckier still that it introduced The Bella Vista to us!  Take a look at this FANTASTIC new space! Such a fabulous space and such an AMAZING event with wonderful people.  We are so thankful to be involved with the Women In Philanthropy and continually amazed by the acts of selflessness of the WIP and United Way.  No wonder such an awesome group of people chose such an AWESOME venue!  The Bella Vista is beautiful!  Definitely check it out if you are planning an event in the Lindon area!  Happy Planning!
