We are delighted to announce that Culinary Crafts owner Ryan Crafts has been awarded a Utah Business HR Achievement Award for 2025.
The Utah Business publication highlights ideas, innovations, and people behind Utah’s business success stories. Each year, they honor “human resources professionals who have gone beyond the call of duty to make their companies great places to work.” That distinction certainly applies to Ryan! His approach to management is based on his conviction that ”genuine hospitality begins with how you treat your own people.”
The accompanying Utah Business article mentions a few of the exceptional employee benefits that Ryan implemented at Culinary Crafts. Those include health insurance coverage, company-matched 401(k) plans, PTO, paid parental leave, educational scholarships, and wellness programs. The article also mentions Culinary Crafts’ generous wages and end-of-year bonuses.
Ryan’s people-first approach was tested during the COVID pandemic that devastated the Utah catering industry. The Utah Business article points out, “While competitors closed their doors, Ryan made the counterintuitive decision to maintain his core team’s employment and benefits — absorbing significant financial losses to preserve the company’s human capital. His forward-looking strategy included reorganizing the company and promoting key employees to managerial positions.” That choice to value people over profits prepared Culinary Crafts to capitalize on the industry’s eventual recovery.
Congratulations to Ryan on this much-deserved recognition. We already knew what a great job you’re doing at Culinary Crafts, but we’re glad someone else sees it too!
